Psalm 56:8 says, “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”

Psalm 88

Depression is a Liar.

How can we, the people of God, the Body of Christ – how can we help ourselves and each other and how can we do this in a Biblical manner following after God’s own heart in this area of our lives?

Psalm 34:18 “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

What is God’s response when He sees us hurting?

2 Corinthians 1: 3-4 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”

Romans 8:11 “The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.”

Proverbs 25:20 “Singing cheerful songs to a person with a heavy heart is like taking someone’s coat in cold weather or pouring vinegar in a wound.”

How do you know if you need help?

Depression will tell you that God is finished with you. That is a Lie.

Philippians 1:8 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

James 4:8, “Come near to God and He will come near to you.”

Psalm 40: 1-2 “I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”

John 14:27 “Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.”

Isaiah 43:2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Psalm 34:18 “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 42
