Romans 12

So today we are going to take a water ski lesson ride to become the people God desires.

  1. Get out of the boat and into the water.

Romans 12:1-2 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Do not conform to this world – DO NOT BE SQUEEZED INTO THE WORLD’S MOLD

God wants us to be transformed by being renewed in our mind.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ”

  • Get in the right position

Romans 12:3 “For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.”

The position that God wants us to get into is one of humility.

The thing about God’s humility:

  • Not thinking too low of yourself
  • Not thinking to high of yourself.
  • Time to get up on the ski’s

“in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.”

CHRISTIANITY IS ABOUT FAITH

  • Enjoy the ride

Romans 12:4-8 “For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”

Here is the fascinating thing about the body – Each member belongs to one another!
