- MOABITE STONE – Cool historical recordings – about battles with Israel king Omri
Ruth 3:9-11 “Who are you?” he asked.
“I am your servant Ruth,” she said. “Spread the corner of your garment over me, since you are a kinsman redeemer of our family.”
10 “The Lord bless you, my daughter,” he replied. “This kindness is greater than that which you showed earlier: You have not run after the younger men, whether rich or poor. 11 And now, my daughter, don’t be afraid. I will do for you all you ask. All the people of my town know that you are a woman of noble character.”
This was a very bold move.
In today’s world it would look like this:
- Find a rich guy
- Jump in bed with him in the middle of the night
- Ask him to marry you
They did the Right thing the right way
The Bible gives us glimpses of the right way to do things
- Follow the moral path
- The Surrender of authority
1 Corinthians 7:4-5 “The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. 5 Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.”
The Bible concept of a marriage is that you belong to one another
Ephesians 5:21 “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ”
Healthy way to Communicate:
When you do this it make me feel this way
Bible on divorce
Matthew 19:4-6 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
God hates divorce, but he has the ability to connect people together a second time around!
