Galatians 6
Galatians 6:1 “Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently”
Living in the flesh is not the goal for our Christian faith, but:
- We live in a fallen world
- We are all broken
Greek word for caught – “prolambano”
- Caught by surprise
- Before they are able to cover it up
James 3:2 “We all stumble in many ways.”
What are things that we restore in life that get broken?
- Cars
- Holes in pants
- Buttons on shirts
- Furniture restoration
- Computers
We are all tools for God to use for his Kingdom building:
- When a person breaks or sins – WE DO NOT THROW THEM OUT
Sin by definition – “Missed the mark”
Our calling in life is to build people up instead of tearing them down
Galatians 6:1-2 “Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:5 “for each one should carry their own load”
How do we carry our own load and carry one another’s burden’s?
In Greek the word carry is the same in both verses:
- Carry each other’s burdens
- Carry their own load
Burdens: Heaviness and trouble that is larger and bigger than one person can handle
Load: a weight or burden meant for one person
Here is a challenge: DON’T GET THINGS BACKWARDS
- When we expect our personal load to be carried by others
- When our way is too big for us, burdens are things that we don’t ask for help with
