Foundations: Filled with Holy Spirit
Being Filled by the Holy Spirit
John 16:7 “But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.”
God made a plan:
- Plan to defeat sin
- Plan to reconnect with mankind
- Plan to fill us with Himself
Ephesians 5:15-16 “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”
Ephesians 5:17 “Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.”
Part of being wise is to seek after and understand Gods will
Ephesians 5:18 “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit”
There is a clear contrast here:
- Do not let alcohol be what leads and controls you
- Instead let the Holy Spirit control your life
