Romans 15 – Build Them Up

Romans 15:1 “We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.”

The world teaches us to – Live to please ourselves

God teaches us to – Live to build up others

Romans 15:1-3 “We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.”

THERE IS A LIE THE DEVIL WANTS YOU TO BELIEVE

  • That you will be happier if you do and get what you want.
  • That you will be happier if you live for your own pleasure.

Ephesians 4:11-16 “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

Romans 15:7 “Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.”

As part of the body of Christ  – We get to learn how to accept one another.

Romans has been pretty clear:

  • Don’t judge and criticize one another.
  • Help one another.
  • Accept one another.
  • Recognize each other’s differences.
  • The body of Christ has many different parts
