Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

– Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Godly friendships are like this:

  • They help you stay focused on God
  • They help you make good decisions
  • They help you go to church more often

2 Corinthians 6:14 “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

This is a warning to the Christians about not letting people who worship idols rub off on you!

What are some things that people do in our culture that by hanging out with them too much could rub off on us?

  • Making poor choices
  • The way they talk and joke
  • Their music
  • Their values

When we become really close friends with people that don’t know Jesus:

  • They make it harder for us to follow Christ
  • It frustrates both people

It can actually be painful!
