- Will Work for _______________ !
Matthew 20:1-15 – ” 1 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2 Now when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 and said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.’ So they went. 5 Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise. 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle,[a] and said to them, ‘Why have you been standing here idle all day?’ 7 They said to him, ‘Because no one hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right you will receive.’[b]
8 “So when evening had come, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, ‘Call the laborers and give them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.’ 9 And when those came who were hired about the eleventh hour, they each received a denarius. 10 But when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received each a denarius. 11 And when they had received it, they complained against the landowner, 12 saying, ‘These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.’ 13 But he answered one of them and said, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? 14 Take what is yours and go your way. I wish to give to this last man the same as to you. 15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?’”
We can respond just like these individuals.
- We can complain when the boss is showing special favor or generosity to others.
- We want fairness and justice.
- We want what we think we deserve.
Let’s look at the heart of the landowner.
- He had work that needed to be done.
- He was willing to generously pay anyone who was willing to do it.
- SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT BOSS.
Matthew 29:6 About the eleventh hour he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, “Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing.”
- It doesn’t matter whether you serve God starting at age 10 or 80 he is equally generous.
- God is looking for workers.
- The landowner went out to gather in workers instead of his foreman.
THE PURPOSE FOR YOUR LIFE IS TO BE A WORKER FOR HIS KINGDOM NOT YOURS.
Matthew 9: 37-38 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
- God is not just looking for people to get saved. He is looking for people to join with Him in his work.
- You are either part of the harvest – or you are part of the harvest still in progress. .
5 What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. 6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8 The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. 9 For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.
What are some of the jobs on the farm that need to be accomplished to bring in a harvest?
Each of you has a specific place that the Holy Spirit would like to call you to do Kingdom work.
