What is the difference?

What is the difference? Have you ever seen the puzzles where there are two pictures side by side? And the goal of the game is – You’ve got to find the five differences. Sometimes it’s really easy. Sometimes you’ve really got to look. It really makes you think. Have you ever sat there and thought “I can’t find this”?

It got me to thinking about our life. Do we look so much like the world that you really can’t tell the difference? Does our life look like that?

Today’s passage gives us a look at six ways our lives are to be different.

1. We are to think differently
Ephesians 4:17-18
Futile thinking
Darkened in their understanding
Separated from God because of ignorance
2 Corinthians 10:5 take every thought and make it obedient to Christ.
Why?
Verse 23 Be made new in the attitude of your minds

2. We are to feel differently
Ephesians 4:18b-19
Calloused heart
Lost sensitivity
What does a loss of sensitivity lead to?
Indulgence to sin

3. We are to live differently
Ephesians 4:20-24
Put off the old self
Put on the new self of holiness/ purity
Ephesians 4:26-27
In your anger do not sin
Do not give the devil a foothold
Psalms 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.

4. We are to talk differently
Ephesians 4:25, 29
Put off falsehood and speak truthfully
Do not let ANY unwholesome talk come out of your mouth
Let your words be used to build up others
Matthew 12:36 But I tell you that men will have to give account on the Day of Judgment for every careless word they have spoken.

5. We are to work differently
Ephesians 4: 28
Don’t steal
Be useful
(work hard)
I think that it would be a great witness if Christians were the best workers.
Employers would want to hire them for their dedication and ethics.
They would work for their boss as if they were working for God.
In all you do, do it as unto the Lord.

6. We are to Treat each other differently
Ephesians 4:31-32
Don’t be bitter
Don’t be angry
Don’t slander and put down
Don’t gossip

Here is a key point in the whole message.Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God.
