Psalms 100

      Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
    Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.

For the Lord is good and his

love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations

“Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor– and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be– That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks–for his kind care

“and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best”  – George Washington

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth

  • Who is the command to? All the earth

How many countries in the world have a day of Thanksgiving?

  • Three
  • US, Canada, and the Philipines

This is what this Psalms is about

  • Shout for joy to the Lord
  • Worship the Lord with gladness
  • Know the Lord is God
  • Give thanks to him and praise his name
  • For the Lord is good and his love endures forever

Through all the earth and with every generation thanksgiving should be made to him.

Thankfulness is not something that you do

  • It is more of an attitude that you have
  • It is an appreciation of other people
  • It is a gladness for relationship
  • It is a heart condition

The more we have generally the less thankful we become.

Matthew 25:31-46  “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
