Ephesians 4: Purpose for the Church

Starting in Ephesians 4:1-3 Paul talks about living a life worthy of your calling. He says that you should be humble, gentle and patient. Bear with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

The first thing that jumps out at you is that gentleness, patience, peace and love are all “fruit” of the Holy Spirit. So after talking about “right thinking” he says you really need to be filled with the fruit of the Spirit of god. See when you start talking about really being filled with the Spirit of god, a lot of people want to talk about power gifts. They want to talk about prophecy, and miracles and outward overflowing “oomph” I love those type of gifts. But Paul here is talking about the fruit of the Spirit. See the fruit of the Spirit is where the power comes from.
